Notting Hill Carnival

Held each August bank holiday weekend since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe.

For the last 6 years we have been privileged to provide temporary power solutions to the Metropolitan Police Service's Rest and Recreation areas; special zones which are created solely for the use of the servicemen and women whilst off-duty and on scheduled breaks from the beat.

This can include providing power to mobile office units, important CCTV stations and floodlighting as well as canteens, common areas and coffee machines.

Working on these projects are always interesting and sometimes quite a challenge having to negotiate new sites, alternative layouts of the equipment and marquees and having only 2 days to install such a large site and 1 day to strip the equipment out.

Additional to this we also had 2 hours to install 5 sets of temporary areas within the streets of Notting Hill which included generators, temporary prison cells, portable toilets and office units, with only 2 hours to strip out and gather the inventory together again for the streets to resume as normal for the traffic and pedestrians of West London.

The Metropolitan Police provide spectacular public street security at the festival, allowing spectators and partakers to enjoy the wonderful eclectic vibe in safety.

Metropolitan Police

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) is famed around the world and has a unique place in the history of policing. It is by far the largest of the police services that operate in the greater London area.

EPS are proud to provide temporary power solutions to the MPS when they are dispatched from HQ to police events held throughout a diverse, cultural and sprawling London and often branching out across the UK for special operations.

We provide all power distribution for what is known to the officers as Rest & Recreation areas, created solely for the use of the MPS when they are off-duty and on scheduled breaks from the beat. This can include providing power to mobile office units, important CCTV stations and floodlighting as well as canteens, common areas and coffee machines.

The Metropolitan police serve the communities of London with more than 33,000 officers together with about 14,200 police staff, 270 traffic wardens and 4,700 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

With the temporary power supplies EPS provide to the police service for public and sporting events, such as the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and the Notting Hill Carnival, we are pleased to be supporting The Metropolitan Police in helping to keep crime to a minimum for a safer London.

EPS are also listed by The Metropolitan Police as Emergency Responders. Should there be a national emergency; EPS are poised to provide The Metropolitan Police with any available resources to keep their operations powered.
